Mexico - Chichen Itza

Here are a few pics from Chichen Itza. I have so many awesome pictures that it was difficult to choose which to post. These ruins are thought to have been around since 600 bc.

These people were soooo interesting. Every corner represents a season and at the base of the stairs is a head of a snake. The triangular ridges up the stairs reresents the body of the snake coming down from heaven to bless ( fertalize) the soil for the coming crops. at jsut the right time of day you can see the shadow of the snake perfectly. They used to let people walk up the stairs but last year a woman fell from half way up and died.

These are on the side of the obervatory. They had all the stars and constilations figured out.

This was the Convent I believe.

Pretty much I am so freakin jealous! Your pictures look so amazing. I would love to hike up to the ancient ruins, see the ziggurats and learn about all that stuff. That might even be funner than the beach. The caves sound really cool too. Where did you guys stay?
